Silica is available as a tissue salt in many health food stores and pharmacies. It is my go to remedy for foreign body in the skin, and helps to expel these quickly and painlessly. That is, things like a splinter in the finger, silica fibers from being in long grass, even fish bones, etc. Take the tablets a couple of times a day until the object is out and any redness around the wound has disappeared. I have used it frequently over the years when using my brush cutter, when the blade hit concrete, tiny shards of the blade would hit me in the face, I would take Silica tissue salt for a week afterwards and feel the shards coming out! Later, I bought a face shield which is a better plan. Sometimes I x-ray people who are coming with a query of foreign body in their finger, etc and I tell them to go to the health food store and buy a bottle of Silica tissue salt. I don’t know if they do and what the results are but know it has worked for me.
The tissue salt is also very helpful in supporting the health of hair, skin and nails. When nails are brittle, with white spots and break easily this is considered a confirmatory symptom for Silica when giving it in a higher potency. Still with nails, it may help whitlow / hangnails and ingrown toe nails. Silica also helps proper bone development and may be indicated in bone pains of growing children, especially if they are unable to assimilate food efficiently. Possibly even helping scoliosis if started early enough.
Silica is also a good remedy when there is a tendency to suppuration, that is infection creating pus. A first aid example is insect bites that have become infected, where there is redness and swelling with red lines extending from the bite. Sometimes a splinter in a finger may become infected as the body uses the discharge to expel the foreign body. Abscesses may respond to this remedy as well as boils and ulcers (also Hepar Sulph) especially if they are reoccurring. It is also of use for resolving suppuration inside the body.
There is enlargement of lymph glands and they become become hard. Perspiration is offensive and copious of the feet, sweat that eats up the socks. The feet will also be very cold. There may also be a lot of perspiration around the head, especially in children (Calc carb). Antiperspirant may be contraindicated in a person requiring Silica and may lead to stones in the soles of the feet and possibly even renal stones after a number of years.
Aspects that confirm a prescription of Silica are
Lean and thin
Sensitive to cold, drafts of cold air
Constipation
Brittle nails

Thank you for the inspiration. I’ve known Bach’s remedies for ages, but never heard of Schuessler’s tissue salts before. Fascinating. Salts, not my ignorance.
