Rumex is a dry, continuous cough, sometimes described as teasing and preventing sleep. The teasing is due to an excessive tickle sensation in the throat. The paroxysm of coughing lasts for a long time.
The incessant coughing leads to a sensation of rawness in the larynx and trachea. This rawness in the throat then leads to hoarseness. There may be an accumulation of tough mucus in the air passages. Nausea may result as the coughing brings up watery, frothy expectoration which may become tough and stringy (Kali-bic)
Rumex can have a barking cough like Spongia and the remedies are very close. Rumex will want to cover their head with the bed clothes to warm the air they are trying to get into their lungs. Spongia will be sitting leaning forward to help them breath.
